Things happen. People say you make your own luck, but that's not always true. There are times when bad things happen to good people. Most of us have experienced some run of bad luck in our life, whether it be losing a job, getting fired from a job, being ill, relationship problems or breaking up with someone we loved. These situations could be very difficult and confusing for a young person when they first experience them. In fact, I know that’s how I felt when things didn't go my way.
I've experienced all kind of bad luck in my life. Some of them I deserved, others not so much. But all of them seem to have been there for a reason. Bad luck created space in my life that is now filled with good luck. It's an interesting place to be, but not always easy to deal with.
Life has a way of tossing us a curve ball, and it's not always a pretty one. Sometimes we hit a dead end, with no way out. The best we can do is deal with it correctly. We need to have the right attitude in order to weather these storms, and for that we need a little luck. In order to do that, we need to identify the kind of situations we tend to be in during bad luck times. This way we can prepare for whatever might come our way.
We can deal with our bad luck in two ways. The first is denial. We choose not to think about or feel bad about our situation because we think it will pass. The second is rationalization. We come up with reasons why our bad luck will eventually pass, such as: it's just one of those things that happen in life, or it'll pass and it'll be OK. The important thing is that we identify and name our negative thoughts and beliefs. Then we make a choice to turn away from them and work on inner peace, blessings, and good fortune for ourselves.
Sometimes our actions or wishes may bring down bad luck on other people's life. Sometimes we don't even realize how upset we are causing others until it is too late and they have suffered from it. And, after realizing our mistake we often think if only we could edit wishes that we had made for them. It can be shocking to discover that you could have done something (or not done something) that could have brought about bad luck. But this does not mean that we cannot edit wishes or nothing can be done about it now or in the future.
What if I told you that you could alter the fates of those around you with a single act of kindness, devotion and good intentions? Put your energy into actions which help to create a change in the world around you - a change that can motivate people to help others and push them to reach their greatest potential. Maybe it's through a simple act of kindness, devotion and good intentions; or maybe it's through making a donation to an organization that empowers women.
